Vote counting for the Assam Assembly Elections begins today at 8 AM with an impressive 85.96% voter turnout recorded on April 9 polling day. Exit polls released on Wednesday strongly favour the incumbent BJP government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for a third consecutive term, while Congress under Gaurav Gogoi is projected to remain in a weaker position.
