Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India’s inaugural bullet train on the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor will commence operations on Independence Day, August 15, 2027. The MAHSR project will open in phases, starting with Surat-Bilimora, followed by Vapi-Surat, Vapi-Ahmedabad, Thane-Ahmedabad, and finally Mumbai-Ahmedabad.
