The National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) has urged the 8th Pay Commission to revise family unit calculations from 4 to 6 members (including parents) to better reflect current living expenses and inflation. This change, along with a proposed fitment factor of 3.833, could significantly increase minimum basic pay and overall compensation for central government employees.
