Reliance Industries has temporarily halted plans to manufacture lithium-ion battery cells in India due to inability to secure key technology from Chinese supplier Xiamen Hithium Energy Storage. Beijing’s restrictions on overseas tech transfers stalled the licensing deal, forcing Reliance to shift focus to battery energy storage systems (BESS) assembly for its renewable projects.
