Tamil Nadu’s opposition to the three-language policy is not something that emerged suddenly for the sake of temporary political gain. It is a principled stance—sown in the Assembly in 1968 by Anna —that has been steadfastly upheld with consensus by all of Tamil Nadu’s political parties and its people for over five decades.
