Reports indicate that an agreement has been reached to purchase electricity from the open market at a record-high price, Rs.35 per unit, unprecedented in the history of Tamil Nadu’s power sector. In contrast, during the same period, Andhra is purchasing 150 MW of power at rates ranging from ₹16 to ₹20 per unit.
