Across the world, the Pongal festival was celebrated grandly yesterday in areas where Tamils live. In particular, in Sri Lanka, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake celebrated the Pongal festival along with the Tamil people. While all this is fine, various groups have emphasized that this same spirit of friendship should also extend to the issues concerning fishermen.
