VCK leader Thirumavalavan has withdrawn his earlier announcement to contest the Assembly elections and has instead fielded Jothimani Ilaiyaperumal—a member of the Congress party—as the VCK candidate for the Kattumannarkoil constituency. It is reported that a conversation with the DMK leader lies behind this decision by Thirumavalavan.
