The Communist Party had controlled the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation for 45 years. It is in this context that the BJP has captured the corporation for the first time. Following this, V.V. Rajesh has been announced as the BJP’s mayoral candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. Similarly, Asha Nath of the BJP has been announced as the deputy mayoral candidate.
