“We were pressured within the MDMK to resign our MLA posts, with the lure of joining the ruling party alliance, the possibility of becoming ministers. Refusing to be swayed by such temptations, and unwilling to bring shame upon the people who trusted and voted for us, we remain steadfast in our stance,” stated the MDMK MLAs who had won while contesting under the DMK symbol.
