The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve has fallen to its lowest level since 1983 after releasing millions of barrels to counter high energy prices caused by the Iran war. This critical shortage is believed to be the main reason behind President Trump’s sudden decision to agree to a ceasefire and hand over control of the Strait of Hormuz to Iran.
