The National Commission for Women has taken *suo motu* cognizance of the gang rape of a 61-year-old woman in Chennai, as well as the sexual harassment of a young boy by a police officer. In this regard, it has issued a stern directive to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Tamil Nadu to submit a detailed report within the next seven days.
