Auto rickshaw drivers allege that bike taxis have destroyed their livelihoods, claiming they are losing out on fares to these services that operate in violation of regulations, leaving them struggling even to repay vehicle loans. A stir was created in Tiruchengode, Namakkal, when auto-rickshaw drivers intercepted bike taxis operating illegally and handed them over to the RTO office.
